Remaining tethered to Jesus in a world that demands that you walk independently of Him is tough.
It can very often feel like your relation with Jesus is either being ridiculed or rejected by the masses. But, how can we live the life of the born again, a part from Him?
The world would love for you to know that Jesus is the way but not follow it. It would love for you to acknowledge that He is Lord and not treat Him as such. It would love for you to know the truth and be nonchalant about it.
The enemy knows that there is power in your allegiance. There is power in you association and connection with Jesus. So much so that he’ll try anything He can to sever that connection, and to sever that bond.
Your holding onto Jesus isn’t because Jesus needs you to hold on to Him. Your holding onto Jesus is because you need to be held by Him. How can we be held by someone if we chose not to be near them? That would be a rather hard thing to do now, wouldn’t it?
To know that there were many people who knew who Jesus was when He lived in a human body on this earth and still chose not to a walk with Him during that time makes me think deeply. Some left Him sad because they weren’t willing to go the distance with Him. Others knew He was the Messiah but never openly acknowledged it because of fear of what other people would say and|or think. Some knew who He was and chose not to believe. Others suspected who He might be, but the demand of life’s “right now” on them outweighed their thoughts to pursue Him.
Some received a miracle or healing from Him and never followed Him again. Others heard of all that He could do but never got close. The more I read scripture and the more that I experience life, is the more I understand how intentional every encounter that Jesus had with another person was. Whether the interaction was His intention, or the individuals or someone connected to the individuals intention, the intention was there.
Don’t allow the present day to lull your intentions or willingness to draw closer to Jesus to sleep.
God pursues us but He must also be pursued.
James 4:8
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you…”
