LIGHT

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

John 1:5

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Genesis 1:16

God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars.

1 Corinthians 15:41

The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory.

The Bible is filled with scriptures that speak about light.

Light illuminates:

to illuminate means to

1. make (something) visible or bright by shining light on it; light up.

2. help to clarify or explain.

David spoke of in Psalms 119 of hiding the word of God in his heart so that he wouldn’t sin against God. The word is meant to get in us and meant to illuminate our insides.

It is supposed to act like an epidemic once on the inside of us. It plants seeds in our heart, which the takes root and begins to bud plants and flowers of truth, the word, right living and the like in, through and in proximity of our entire lives.

epidemic:

1. characterized by very widespread growth or extent : of, relating to, or constituting an epidemic

the word of God is the light, meant to light up the pathway of our lives. How I envision this scripture is that in every step i|you take, just by one foot being put in front of the other, God’s light, the light of His word, His presence begins to shine in the steps; leading us through the pathway of this thing called life.

I see it clearing the pathway to difficulties, lighting up the areas of our lives that seem grey and clouded. I imagine the presence of the word of God in our live leading us down paths that only God’s glory and favor could take us.

Just every moment of our existence being lit up by the all consuming presence of the word of God.

Jesus, describes himself as the way, the truth and the life.

John 14:6

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Light gives life to what is dark. It brightens up a room that wasn’t well lit just moments before. It signifies the beginning of a new day, each and everyday. Light shines on what is uncertain and makes it clear. Light is needed and has been needed since the beginning of time. It’s what helps us to see, it’s a part of what a plant needs in order to be healthily nourished.

There are prayers in the Bible that ask God to cause His face to shine on us|me. Which is another reference in the Bible of our need of God’s light.

Numbers 6:25

the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

Later on in scripture we see that the Word of God describes us (believers) as the light of the world.

Matthew 5:14

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

We were meant to first be consumed with the light of God so much so that containing it or keeping it to ourselves would no longer be something we were capable of. And, we’d have to illuminate and impact what|those around us through and by the light that first caused us to be ones who shine.

We light up according to the light within. We are hidden and shown off based on this light. Walk in the light so that you can be sure to fulfill the plan that God has for you. The one He prepared for you to do before the beginning of time.

you are the light:

Genesis 1:17-18

God set these lights in the sky to light the earth,

to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

His strength is made perfect in your brokenness:

1 corinthians 15:42-43

It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.

Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.
