AWAKENING TO – OUR INTAKE

What are you taking in on a daily basis? What do you allow in your space? What’s influencing you without your approval? What do you think you should listen to more of | less of ?

You are God’s masterpiece. Created in Christ Jesus for good works, it’s important that you know this. It’s important that you understand that you were made for good and not for evil. You are who God says you are, designed with the very best in mind and intended for good.

For the person who feels like all you can do is think of evil or what is less than wholesome, this one sentence is for you; you are STILL MADE FOR GOOD.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Titus 2:12-13

while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

Titus 2:13 ESV

who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

What you take or allow into you, affects you whether you’d like it to or not. I wish it didn’t, but it does.

Which is why it’s so important that we spend time in God’s presence daily, because as we do, what is not of Him is removed and is rolled away . We allow the yucky world and its way of thinking to be demolished by the truth, which is the Word of God. And through the thoughts of God, our minds are renewed and transformed. Everything that the enemy tries to get into us losses it’s potency as the Word of God becomes our defense.

We need to renounce what is not of God and accept what is of Him. I want a heart that chooses to disagree with everything that does not come from Him and, desires to take ahold of what does and is of Him.

The enemy of your soul is a bum and wants nothing more than for you to accept less than you were made for or called to. This always starts with your intake, what you choose to believe and what you allow to influence and get into you.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have scripture breathed into me daily than whatever this world is offering. I’d rather know scripture back and front, through and through, inside and out before I chose to be well versed with the lies the world tries to feed us.

It is completely harmful to consume what the world offers and not have a place or time set a part to release or offload all of that in the presence of God. We need to be mindful of our intake, but more than that we need to rid ourselves of everything we take in daily, that has the potential to hinder us.

AWAKENING TO – HOW SPECIAL YOU REALLY ARE

I was reading the word this morning and came across a story in the Bible. It’s header was “The Gospel of God for Rome”.

Now someone reading these words could easily say “Isn’t there only one Gospel of God?” “Isn’t there only one definition of the Good News we reference in the Bible?”

And with those hypothetical questions being raised I want to take the liberty to remind you of how special you truly are to God.

There is only one message of The Gospel, and only one reference of Good News that we are referring to when those two words in each of those phrases are put together. The Bible is defining the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Good News references His life, death, burial and resurrection for the sake and in the place of all sinners, spread throughout the earth.

The beauty about The Gospel and this Good News is that as general as this message is, it is so specific to the individual as well.

Jesus refers to a place in scripture that says he didn’t come to abolish the law. But to fulfill it:

Matthew 5:17

“Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.

There are several passages in scripture where we see Jesus meet the specific needs of an individual despite the concerns of those around Him. Here I’ll be referencing a few of these times:

Matthew 9:5-6 NIV

Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?

But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.”

There was a moment when Jesus challenge the sins of an entire crowd with the mercy He chose to have on one woman caught in hers:

John 8:7-11

They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” ———-

And another where Jesus met the needs of a newly wed couple and provided wine for their wedding out of water when theirs own preparation weren’t sufficient:

John 2:5-10

But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”

There are several places in the Word where God chose to meet the need of the individual in the mist of the crowd.

Isn’t it just like Him to see your needs and meet that too?! He doesn’t just meet the physical need but the spiritual ones as well. Like the moments where you are sitting in church and hear a word being preached. Isn’t it just like Jesus, to walk into that room and minister to everyone in there specially and individually? As if you were the only one in the room.

It sounds just like Him, to know that even before the beginning of time He knew that He would prepare the heart of Paul to write a letter to the Roman converts, affirming them of their faith and letting them know who they are in Christ.

Romans 1:7

I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

It’s like Him, it’s like Him to take something that could apply to each and every single one of us a make it a thing that compartmentalizes your own individual life in a way that leaves you completely whole and put together, lacking nothing, no spiritual blessing and full of heavenly contentment.

It is like Him to take something like The Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and make it work for, in and through every single one of our lives individually and with intentionality.

It is like Him to think that you were so special that even if it was just you that He sent His son to earth to die for, that it would be worth it. It is, like Him to love you so much as to meet you where you are and put identity on your lost, hopeless and weary soul. It is like Him to meet us where we are and share secret things with us if we choose to meet Him where He is. It is, like Him to send His one and only Son to redeem a world full of people that would hate Him and never even choose to accept Him and this free gift.

It is like Him to beckon our hearts back to Himself whenever we wander. It is like Him to whisper to you that He thought that you were to die for, and actually mean it.

It is like Him to take something like The Gospel which is applicable to every human being on the face of the earth, every tongue, every nation and every creed; and make it oh so personal as to bring someone specific to tears at the mention of this Gospel. It is like Him to fill us with His very own presence although we were so undeserving of it and bless our lives for His purposes.

It is like Him to love you soo much and so uniquely that He’d actually take every step possible to prove to you that He really does and did love you with an everlasting love..

Jeremiah 31:3

Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

AWAKENING TO – NOT LIMITING YOUR GRASP OR YOUR REACH

grasp:

1: to take or seize eagerly

2 : to clasp or embrace especially with the fingers or arms

3 : to lay hold of with the mind

reach:

1a : to stretch out

b : thrust

2a: to touch or grasp by extending a part of the body (such as a hand) or an object

b: to pick up and draw toward one

c (1): to extend to

(2): to get up to or as far as : come to

How do you know if something is obtainable?

Inserts personal story here:

Here’s a short story, and it’s a personal one. I always thought to myself that if I was able to afford shopping at a specific supermarket, maybe one along the lines of Citarella that this would be when I “made it” so to speak. Maybe I’m the only one who has had past discussions about where I grocery shop and how much you’d have to make to shop there. If that isn’t the case for you, maybe you can relate to this idea. We tend to put a price point or price tag to the sought out and to the attainable. One might say to another, “You don’t make enough to shop there!” or “That price point is out of your league!”.

But I beg to differ and here’s why. What I learned from the grocery shopping comparison, that I made in my head was that I could actually purchase groceries from stores like Citarella anytime I wanted to. The issue wasn’t in the price point, the issue was in my actions and own thoughts. The only thing stopping me from shopping there, then, was the choice that I made to do so. If I wanted to shop at a gourmet or luxury grocery store, I could, I’d just have to choose to.

Note: The comparison was against “me, then “ – in that moment vs “me, when…” not at all against anyone else.

This has changed my mind about a lot. Our grasp and our reach being among the lot. There isn’t much that isn’t attainable. It really all boils down to the mind you have to attain that thing.

I honestly believe that you can accomplish and do anything, the mind you have to do that something is what concludes the matter. Which is why it is important for us to expand our knowledge, to expand our understanding, and to expand our view of what is potentially in reach.

To think that the act of going to a store, was the only thing actually stopping me from shopping there is a scary thought. It’s actually a very limiting thought. May we never limit ourselves in that way.

You can do anything short of sin as far as God is concerned. This is also why it is important for us to know the God of the Bible, to know what He has done in and through the life of others in the past; so that we can come up higher in our thinking of Him and what He is able to do in our own lives.

It’s isn’t cliche to say that God can do anything, or “There is nothing too hard for our God!” because in all actuality there really is nothing that, He cannot do.

He spoke this entire place as well as space into motion. We cannot fathom His grasp or His reach, so why should we limit our own.

Hoping this blog get you thinking a bit…

Romans 11:36

For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.

AWAKENING TO – THE TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD PART

Romans 8:28

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

There are two factors to consider when referencing this scripture:

1. would be that you love God and

2. would be that you are called according to His purpose for YOU

The greatest commandment is that we should love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, minds and souls.

Matthew 22:37

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’

Deuteronomy 6:4-7

“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

The greatest and most important commandment is to love God. It is to love Him wholly, completely and with everything.

When God is sure that you love Him, He is also sure that He can give you the promises and purposes He has for you. Similar to Abraham and the story of him and Issac. He loved God and proved His love to God with the confirmation of an angels response saying “now I know you fear God” (Genesis 22:12). God knew that Abraham could handle situations and circumstances working together for his good because he loved and revered Him. He knows that He can bless you because you love Him. He knows that He can flip a circumstance in your favor and the act not go to your head, because you know that the reason for it all is to serve His purposes.

Matthew 5:5

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

God wants us all to walk in His purposes for us. His plan is for none of us to perish (2 Peter 3:9), but He also is sovereign and knows that we all won’t choose to walk down the path that pleases Him. He knows who will choose to serve Him and who will choose to not. He knows the end from the beginning and takes the will of the wicked and the surrendered will of the righteous and works them both together to accomplish His purposes.

The thing with the second part of Romans 8:28 is that we are all called according to the purposes of God for our lives, but we don’t all answer to living it out.

Here are 5 questions to ask yourself to better get your life in cooperation with the principal of this scripture:

1. Do I love God?

2. How can I love God more?

3. Have I answered the call to live a life aligned with His purposes and good pleasure?

4. How can I be better at living a life more surrendered to the Fathers will?

5. Do I want to hear the words “well done” when things are all said and done on this side of life?

A few scriptures to reference:

Proverbs 4:23

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Phillipians 2:13

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

AWAKENING TO – YOUR LIFE TELLS A STORY

Your life tells a story. What do you want it to read?

I vividly remember some moments in my faith. The one I’ll be referencing today happens to be a few specific moments, all bottled in one description. It was moments where I’d be with my peers in the faith. We frequently would stay later in the main sanctuary of our church “chopping it up”, conversing or fellowshipping about our lives. (Not sure which of these words gives you the gist of what I mean so I included them all.)

We’d open up the church to pray over our youth, the church, the community and stay back later and envision our individual futures out loud to one another. Our bond for the purpose, the advancement of the cause (the Kingdom), and our devotion to see what we decreed come to pass in each others lives was something special.

I mention this to say, that we would speak what we wanted to see in our personal lives out loud amongst one another and hold each other accountable to those things.

Passion and purpose fueled or lives and the stories we wanted to tell through it. One of the people in the group would often say “I want my life to be lived in such a way that if there was another book in the Bible, mine would be the one that God would choose to be that book.” What is your book reading? What do you want your “book of the Bible” to say? Would God choose your story to add to the Book?

Your life is, a blank canvas in the hands of God if you choose for it to be. When we look at a blank canvas we assume that there is nothing on or within it but that just isn’t true. Even the canvas was put together with a distinct list of materials and may of had something brushed on its surface before it got into the hands of the artist.

You too, have been made with some things and have been brushed over with purpose and the presence of God all over your life.

Your past is not a factor when God is in the equation. He’s known for canceling out what may need to be canceled in order for you to resume in the places and positioning He’s called you to.

Your life tells a story. What do you want it to read?

AWAKENING TO – GIVING GOD MY FAITH TO WORK WITH

So you’ve probably often heard that God has given us a measure of faith and the following scripture is what we typically see referenced:

Romans 12:3-4

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function,

There is also a scripture that says that it is impossible to please God without faith.

Hebrews 11:6

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

So how do we “hand God our faith” so to speak? How do we come to God believing? How do we express to Him that we know, He is? How do we express to Him that we believe He rewards our seeking?

Here a 5 tips for actively moving in faith:

1. By first believing. The Bible teaches us that in order to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior we must first believe in our hearts and then confess with our mouths (Romans 10:9), that Jesus is Lord and we shall be saved. God is a God of principle, which means that the principle of “believing in our heart and confessing with our mouth” would apply in other areas of our life. Similar to this scripture we find others like as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7), and ones that say that we shall have what we confess or believe (Mark 11:24). Now God is not a genie in a bottle ready to grant our ever wish. But He does work and move according to our confession’s of faith, the belief in our heart and mind. You can see this through the life and ministry of Jesus, most people received their miracles and breakthroughs because of their belief. In the Old Testament negative thoughts and remarks would be uttered and God would say things like “because you believed this, it will happen”. The same goes for positive results and utterances. Ex. 2 Kings 13

2. Act like what God says in His word or has told you is true. A sure way to show God that you believe that what He has spoken is true is to act like what you’ve heard is, in fact what you believe. Look at it this way, if I told you that I was believing to read a specific number of books by the end of the year and you never saw me pick up not one book or download an audio book phone application. Would you believe in my vision to accomplish this goal? Probably not, and the same can apply to our belief in Gods word. Now, if you saw me with a book in my hand every time we met together or an audio book playing in my headphones while I commuted you would believe that this goal of mine, was achievable. The Bible reminds us often that God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19), and because we know this we can be sure that if He’s told us something He wants to accomplish through us or has specific scripture that leads to promise in our lives, we can believe Him and act as though we believe He is telling the truth. Our faith is best displayed, through our actions because our words can only take us so far, as it pertains to our faith. Plant what you wish to see.

3. Through your confession. This one ties in a bit with tip number one. I wouldn’t say that I was believing to grow an apple tree if I actually planted an orange tree. The same goes with our speech and where we are believing God to take our faith. Only speak what you want to or are believing to see.

4. Familiarize yourself with who God has shown Himself to be in the past. For some of us, we know that God can do anything, and we know this because we believe that He is God Almighty and God over all. But knowing that God can do anything can be a pretty broad statement, and honing in on the miracles He’s done in the past or the names He’s revealed Himself as in the past can be tools that we use to increase our faith. I can say to God in prayer that “I know that You are Almighty God, and you can do anything.” or I can say to God in prayer that “I know that You are El Elon, the Lord of Heaven and Earth, the God, Most High. You made the heavens and the earth and you spoke it all into motion, so I know that you can do this thing for me.” Just like evidence in any court case strengthens one’s case, the same goes for us when we go to God in prayer with evidence of what He’s done in the past or has already done in our lives. Genesis 14:18, 20, 22

5. Strive for genuineness with God. Timothy’s grandmother was commended for her genuine faith (2 Timothy 1:5). Genuine faith can be described as a faith without pretense, a faith that is completely rendered to God. Genuine – gen· u· ine 1a : actually having the reputed or apparent qualities or character b : actually produced by or proceeding from the alleged source or author. God looks for what is true in you.

Romans 12:6

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.

AWAKENING TO – IT BEING ON HIM

It’s on His sacrifice

It’s on Christ shed blood,

It is on who He already is

and who He has chosen for you to be

You get to share in and identify you didn’t work for, and you just get to be.

An identity you cant work for is the identity that Christ came to this earth, died a gruesome death and resurrected for you and I to possess. We now have an identity that we could never obtain on our own.

Because of Christ shed blood we get to share in an identity that we didn’t work for and couldn’t work towards.

Hebrews 11:6

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him

Romans 8:17

And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Our new identity is by faith alone, in Christ alone. Our new identity is obtained upon our acceptance of what Christ did for us and we receive it at that instant, along with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

You instantly become an heir of God’s glory but it takes faith to walk in that glory.

I recently referenced Adam and Eve’s fall on a trip to the museum with my little. I noted something that in today’s society is no longer acceptable. I referenced a thing that wasn’t shameful but became shameful as a result of the|ir fall.

I then had to correct myself and say that shame made this unacceptable, but God never meant it to be.

And I believe the same goes for you and I today. We can allow the operation of shame and sin to influence us into believing that we are somehow unacceptable in God’s presence and in the sight of others.

We can allow ourselves to believe that we can never walk in our true identity because of who we’ve been or because of what we’ve done. But Christ changes all that. Once we are born again believers, we no longer go by the words that reference our past but we answer to the names that reference our true identity.

2 Corinthians 5:17

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Romans 5:12

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

Romans 5:15

But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

AWAKENING TO – BREAKING UP WITH WHO I WAS OR WHO I’VE BEEN

Its easy to hold ourselves hostage to who we’ve been or who we are now. We can choose not to change and it seem like somehow we’d be letting down the crowd if we noticed something we needed to change and actually put in the effort and made that change.

We can oftentimes hold ourselves to an imaginary image, not wanting those that know us best, or even less than that, to see us show up as anything other than what they’ve always known.

We are constantly growing, constantly learning and constantly improving. It would be unhealthy to stay the same simply because it is something that everyone expects of us.

We are allowed to change. We are allowed to breakup with the parts of us that no long serve the glory that God is taking us to. We are allowed to break up with the parts of us we know can harm the hope and future we are believing for and are headed to.

We can stunt change and growth in our lives because of the ways we are used to showing up and the way we’d like to appear before others. We can completely ignore what God is at work on, in our lives so that we don’t ruffle anyone’s feathers.

But what do you do? :

When God wants to call you higher?

When He is calling you deeper?

When He’s requiring for you to show up in a greater way?

Do you let Him down or do you let others down? Do you stay and remain? Or do you go, grow and change?

I can’t help but think about the life of king David or Joseph.

The same David that showed up to fight the lion and the bear when he was tending to his fathers flock|sheep wasn’t the same David that was running for his life from the present king in order to preserve the promise and purpose of God over his life. It also wasn’t the same David that ruled and governed God’s people for many years. Some things remained, but he had to change for the purpose of occupying the different roles that God was calling him into. David may of kept the same heart posture as the shepherd boy that he was years before he came into the promises of God, but he grew in wisdom, insight and understanding along the way and growing in these ways ultimately change a person. He had to change along the way.

1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles

Joseph the dreamer and Joseph the executor were two different Joseph’s. One believed that his dream would become a reality and the other lived out that dream, in reality. The same Joseph who had been accused is not the same Joseph that was Pharaoh’s second in command. He could not remain the same and be elevated at the same time. He had to change as he grew. He kept the same character throughout the years but differed in quality and skill over time.

Genesis 37-50

Think about any company that has been around for decades or even a few years. They have to change with the times in order to keep up with their personal growth. Growth isn’t a bad thing, remaining stagnant, is. Throughout scripture you’ll find that God commends movement, however imperfect it might be, and He always looks down on what is faithless or one when they are unwilling to “do”.

Joseph’s dependence on the revelation of God to him may of never changed but his skills, ability and responsibility did, which causes one to change as well.

I also can’t help but think about some of my experiences in childhood. The more of a people pleaser we are the less credibility we have for showing up as our authentic selves in the relationships that matter most. It causes us not to be trusted by the people we’d value relationship with most in the long run. It weakens our dependability in relationships with the people we cherish a great deal; because people pleasing causes us to unknowingly take advantage of their presence. It cost us true, sacred and valuable relationships because the recipient may not believe in your ability to show up for them like they’ve shown up for you. Not showing up as YOU in a relationship can put strain on relationships when we don’t show up as ourselves in them.

You are allowed to break up with who you are or who you’ve been…

at any moment

AWAKENING TO – WHO I AM

Who I am in Christ is all that matters. Who I’ve been doesn’t matter much, nor does who you think I am.

Oftentimes we find it hard to step into who we are in Christ because of what is mentioned above.

Who we’ve been can potentially have a death grip on our lives without us even knowing or acknowledging it. “Letting go of what lies behind…” can be one of the hardest things for some to do. All that was known, all that was seen and all that was experienced may be a hard thing to let go of. But, imagine trying to walk into everything God has for you while still holding onto everything He doesn’t have for you. You’d never be able to grab ahold of it. And it’s not because you don’t want to, it’s because you’re holding onto what He doesn’t want you to.

God’s plan through our identity is perfect. But do we trust Him enough to believe it?

Who someone else thinks you are is not more important than who God says you or or who God knows you are.

We oftentimes work our way up to an image stamped in approval by others, all the while abandoning the image we were created in. God had a plan from the beginning of time for your life and He hasn’t changed His mind about it, or you.

Believe Him when He shows you who you are and trust that His plan is geared towards your God.

You are…

wonderfully complex

Psalm 139:14

God’s masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10

Genesis 1:27

Phillipians 3:13-14

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

AWAKENING TO – HAVING FAITH – FOR YOUR LIFE

We’ve probably all been there a time or two, or even more. Where we can have the biggest faith for a friend going through a hard time, a loved one afraid of what the future holds, or a stranger battling anxiety after coming across their story in the news.

We can have the faith to pray for our nation and others. Or even have the faith to pray over and for the healing of someone’s pet, dog. But it seems as though when we go through our own personal test and trials the faith somehow seems like it has just gotten up and left. Like we had the biggest faith when it has to do with someone else but the faith for ourselves and in ourselves just doesn’t seem to add up to what we’d hope it would, at times.

Our faith is important. I would go as far as to say that it is more important than the faith we have for others. When we practice faith in our own lives the faith that we have for others increases and is more potent.

While thinking on those in the Bible. I really can not recall a story where God called someone to have faith for someone else without first giving them faith for either their own life or what he could do through their life.

Moses had the faith to throw his own staff on the ground, and walk to a talking, burning bush and following this God used him to deliver His people from Egypt.

Exodus 4:3, Exodus 3:1-17

Abraham was called to be the father of many nations, but first God gave him the faith to be the father of one.

Genesis 12:1-9

Joshua and Caleb had the faith to believe that the Israelites could possess the land God was giving them after they went out and saw the land for themselves. In spite of the doubt of the others, they knew and believed that God was telling the truth and they proved it with the report they gave.

Numbers 13:1-33
